Bookseller's stamp on front free endpaper, else internally fresh and crisp throughout. In its original dust jacket, a little bumped along upper edge and rubbed on corners, with remnants of sticky label on front. Dust jacket now protected in a new, archival-quality Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape of adhesives. A much overlooked war novel of distinction. Tom Wilkins is an ordinary man and so are the others around him, advancing under fire from the unseen enemy; in flashback White puts together the mosaic of his life, the pattern that culminates in far from ordinary deeds.
