A set of 12 post cards from original art works, in a portfolio pocket. Each one features the art work of Handel Evans, the Welsh-born painter, draughtsman and print maker. Standard post card sized (approx 4.5 by 6.5 inches). There is a little shelf wear on the portfolio. The cards are pristine. Handel Evans lived and painted for some 12 years in the Caribbean. During this time he produced a great many paintings which reflect his vision of island life and from which this series of cards are selected. His time in the Caribbean was an important part of Evan's development as an artist: his returning to Europe was a culture shock in reverse and was to provide a theme for much of his subsequent work. This theme, notably expressed in The Employees series absorbed him and he made it his own, reflecting the conflict between man and technology.
