In white cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. 8vo. Boards very slightly rubbed on edges. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original, illustrated dust jacket a little bumped at edges, scuffed at spine base, marked and shelf worn on verso. A unique handbook about a particularly productive period in the history of British Glassmaking, featuring the works of Sowerby's Ellison Glass Works, George Davidson and Company, Greener and Company and a few of the smaller glass works developing colours, techniques and designs in the region. Significantly during the short period between blown glass and full exploitation of mass production, the glass makers prepared the way for techniques developed later in the 20th century.
