First edition, first printing. 446pp [2]. In black cloth boards with gilt motif on front panel and gilt lettering on spine. Illustrated endpapers. 8vo. Cloth gently rounded at corners and spine ends. Upper text block edge a little dust darkened. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, with wraparound illustrations. Dust jacket a little rubbed at edges with a couple of short, closed nicks running from edges, a little more rubbed at spine ends. Dust jacket now fitted in a Brodart-style protective sleeve, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
