218pp. In purple cloth-covered boards with gilt titles. Signed and inscribed by the author on the half-title, 'I am very proud to sign this book for you. In the hope that it will be of some help. With my very best wishes, Maria Floris, 1964 Feb 25.' 8vo. Cloth has significant but inert damp staining on front panel, bleeding to front paste down. A little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, one corner softened. Two decorative initial stamps on front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, gently worn all over, rubbed at edges, chapped along upper edge, a little crumbling at corners and spine tips. From the blurb: 'a delightful survey of culinary experience, beginning with memories of a Hungarian childhood and culminating in a huge cake made for Churchill's 80th birthday'. Thickly layering the narrative are the recipes, highly original and simply expressed.
