First edition, first impression. In black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. 8vo. Cloth is a little worn, lightly rubbed and rounded at corners and spine tips. Text block edges tones, as are pages at margins. Some heavy pencil annotations on front free endpaper, which is a little spotted. In its original dust jacket, lightly rubbed at edges, circa one inch closed tear running from upper edge, chipped and rubbed at edges on verso, where also a small previous price sticker. Overall a neat and clean copy but a little dull and worn. John Gardner's second James Bond thriller.
