xvi, 192pp, plus 56pp of colour plate illustrations and 8pp of monochrome plates. In illustrated, laminated card covers. 4to. A slight bump on lower leading corner of covers, and some faint smudging on the fore-edge, else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. Pictures and colour were important to the ancient Egyptians, although the area is under-researched. This volume contains a collection of 23 essays on the topic, from leading historians, arising out of an international colloquium. They draw on a wide range of evidence and sources, and the vast majority of their research is previously unpublished. Edited by W V Davies, Keeper of Egyptian Antiquities at the British Museum. Hard to find title.
