First edition. 244pp, tissue-guarded frontispiece, further illustrations in text. Presentation copy inscribed on verso of front free endpaper, 'Mr Norris, with J F Wilson's compliments, Xmas 1896'. Bound in maroon cloth over decorative paper-covered boards, with gilt lettering. Top edge gilt. Coloured endpapers. 12mo. Cover edges worn, rubbed through in places, rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, patchily faded with some marks. A little spotting on endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown. First few leaves have a little bleed from gilding along top edge, occasional mild and small smudge marks in page margins.
