vi, 174pp, with one coloured map. Spiral bound typescript, in pale blue card covers. Tall 4to. Covers are tatty, rubbed and a little creased at edges, soiled and stained, with manuscript annotation of front indicating the volume was once in the possession of Canterbury and District Association for Mental Health. Text block edges rubbed and a little chipped in places, dust darkened. Small stamped number inside front cover. Very mild page toning, else internally neat and clean. Report of the Committee appointed to inquire into the allegations concerning the care and treatment of patients at St Augustine's Hospital, Chartham Down, Kent and to make recommendations. The allegations were contained in two documents - A Critique Regarding Policy, Parts I & II. These are reproduced towards the end of this report. This damning report on the practices and treatment of patients at St Augustine's Hospital played a significant part in the decision to close the Hospital and the area's redevelopment for housing. It also had a fundamental impact on the treatment of mental health patients in the National Health Service. Now very hard to find Report.
