Book Club Edition. [1965-66] From the popular uniform series of nine Bond novels issued in 1965-66. 188pp. In black cloth boards with blue stripe along leading edge, gilt lettering on spine. Top edge sprayed red. 8vo. Boards very slightly rounded at corners and spine ends. Previous owner's name, dated 1966, inked on front free endpaper, mild partial crack in paper along front hinge, circa 3 inches long, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, a little shelf worn, rubbed along extreme edges, minor of circa one square inch at head of spine, and similar sized nick on rear upper edge. Dust jacket now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. Edition identified by: binding, layout of preliminary pages, which differ from the first edition, although the publisher is still given as Macmillan with a copyright date of 1963; book club edition stated on inner front flap on dust jacket, and the biography on the back of the dust jacket refers to Ian Fleming in the past tense and gives his death date of 1964.
