[1942]. 1st edition, first printing. 196pp. In black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. 8vo. Cloth faded and marked, heavily rubbed on edges and around spine, rounded on corners and fraying at spine ends. Spotted on text block edges. Ex university library, with usual markings on endpapers, call number lettered to spine, occasional discreet ownership stamps. Slightly cocked. We would not usually offer a book in this condition but it is a very hard to find title and will make a good reading/reference copy or fill a gap in a collection until a better copy can be sourced or afforded. A critical interpretation of Milton's opinions on republicanism and government expressed through his political writings.
