First edition. 288pp, [8]pp publisher's ads. Beige cloth-covered boards; blue titles on front and spine; bottom text block edge untrimmed. 12mo. Rubbed corners and spine ends, some soiling and wear, quite cocked. Text block edges tanning. Endpapers just starting to fox and tan; bookseller's ticket on rear pastedown. Otherwise internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Arthur Calder-Marshall’s 1933 nove, Dead Centre, with its portrait of a boys’ boarding school, was inspired by the author’s experience of teaching English at Denstone College.
