First English language edition (originally published in French in 1978). 546pp, plus many pages of full colour plate illustrations. In burgundy cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine. 4to. Some slight loosening to headband at top of spine else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. In its original laminated and illustrated dust jacket. The jacket is moderately bumped at extreme edges, with a few short nicks and curled tears at the tip and tail of spine, previous seller's price label affixed at base of spine. It comes in a plain but robust and protective slipcase, which is a little worn and rubbed on edges. Hard to find.
