First English language edition (previously published in the original French).  156pp, stunning colour plate frontispiece, eight further colour plates, further line drawings etc in text, all by the author.  In red cloth-covered boards with gilt decoration and lettering.  4to.  Cloth is a little worn, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends.  Front hinge cracked and scuffed, slightly loosening.  Front free endpaper absent else internally clean, bright neat.  In its original illustrated matte dust wrapper, chipped and rubbed on edges and over spine, with creasing and minor loss around head of spine; shelf worn.

A lovely, engaging guide to training horses for riding,in vintage style and deeply rooted in the military and cavalry career of the author, who composed much of the work whilst a prisoner of war during the Second World War.
