Fourth edition, further enlarged. viii, 94pp, with three folding plates on violin construction. Green cloth-covered boards embellished with bind rules and other decorations, gilt lettering on spine. Slim 8vo. Cloth very slightly pushed at spine ends. Early and last leaves tanned, with a crude old tape repair to front hinge, front free endpaper chipped on upper corner, front hinge cracked. Bookplate of E Alexander J Duff [Edward Alexander James Duff, 1847-1916] on the front paste down.
The author of this slim volume on violin construction and preservation was instrument maker to the Archduke of Weimar.
