Undated but circa 1931 (either the 1931 first edition or a 1932 or 1933 reprint).  [iv], v-ix, [i], 214pp, with 21 monochrome illustrations over 16 plates.  In mauve cloth-covered boards with black lettering on spine.  8vo.  Cloth is faded, especially around edges, gently rounded at corners and spines, sunned over spine, with a couple of short nicks in cloth at ends of joints.  Text block edges a little spotted.  Some faint and occasional foxing on first and last few leaves, else neat, clean and tight.

A good, solid copy of this now very hard to find title in early editions.  A serious and controversial work which attempts to prove the existence of a cult of witches in Western Europe from the earliest times to the present day.  Murray was the first women to be appointed to a university faculty as a lecturer in archaeology.
