First edition.  xii, 292pp, with one folding map and numerous black and white plate illustrations.  In brown cloth-covered boards with gilt stamped titles on spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little pushed at spine ends, hint of offset toning on endpapers, else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  In an illustrated dust jacket, bumped and rubbed at edges and folds, shelf worn, chapped with some minor loss on lower edge of rear panel, short closed tear from upper edge on rear panel.  Dust wrapper now protected in an archival-quality Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.

A seminal and now very hard to find work on the history of pirates and piracy in and around the Persian Gulf.
