Circa 200pp, with song lyrics, musical scores and engraved plate illustrations. Half bound in red leather over marbled boards. Marbled endpapers. Engraved title page. Small folio. Boards are worn and scuffed, rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, cracked and scuffed along joints, shelf worn. Bookplate of Anne Renier and F G Renier on the front paste down. Hinges cracked. Some mild toning at edges of first and last few leaves, title page toned, else some faint and occasional spotting throughout.
Anne and Fernand Renier were leading book collectors in the mid-part of the 20th century, taking the lead in showing an interest in children's book and genre literature long before they became trends in book collecting. They amassed a collection of over 80,000 volumes. The bulk of their collection was donated to the V&A Museum in London in the 1970s, where it now forms the foundation of the V&A's children's literature hub.
