First edition, second impression.  308pp.  Publisher's green cloth boards with titles on paper spine label.  8vo.  Cloth a little rubbed at corners and spine ends, rounded at spine ends, spine a little sunned, spine label worn and toned.  A little offset tanning to endpapers else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.

Published anonymously, this is Sir William Young Darling's fictional account - widely thought to be true when first published - of bookselling in the 1920s and 1930s, based on the remaining papers of failed bookseller who later committed suicide.
