First edition. 324pp, with portrait plate frontispiece, vignette on title page and further plate illustrations interleafed with text. Blue cloth-covered boards with black vignette on front panel and gilt titles on the spine. Decorative endpapers. 8vo. Cloth somewhat worn and faded, especially over spine, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends. Upper text block edge toned, with some faint spotting on other edges. Gutter fronting half title page strained and cracked. A little toning at edges of first and last few pages.
