Volume 1: xviii, 482pp; Volume 2: xvi, 528pp. Burgundy cloth-covered boards; blind-embossed border and illustration on front, gilt titles on front and spine; top text block edge gilt; black endpapers. 8vo. Sun-faded and rubbed spine with tears to spine ends, rubbed corners with cloth wearing. Fore and bottom text block edges tanning. Hinges cracked and strained, volume quite loose; Lender's stamps and markings on endpapers, prelims and title pages; pages starting to tan. Otherwise internally neat and clean.
