First edition, first impression.  320pp, with monchrome plate frontispiece, 35 further plate illustrations and three maps.  Red cloth-covered boards with titles blind stamped on the front and in gilt on spine.  Maps on endpapers.  8vo.  Cloth a little worn, rubbed at ends of a sunned spine.  Text block edges a little toned.  Hint of toning on first and last few pages else internally neat, clean and bright.  Tightly bound.  

This book describes, for the pedestrian and the motorist, the Roman Capagna in its strictist sense - that is to say it makes no account of the district to the right bank of the Tiber.  It describes the landscape and sites of historic and other interests, with routes and dalliances, for the wandering traveller in Rome.
