First edition. 128pp. Green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and decoration. Top edge gilt. 12mo. Cloth a little rubbed at spine ends. Hint of spotting on endpapers. Publisher's slip (toned) bound in. Loosely laid in is a brief note from Ethel Knox, likely the sister of the author, presenting the book to Canon and Mrs Richardson. The volume is also blind stamped 'presentation copy' on the title page, but no unequivocal evidence of the connection with the author.
E V Knox (1881-1971) is perhaps best remembered as a satirist and the long-time editor of Punch Magazine. As a poet he was skilled at producing topical pieces satirising the leading poets of the day - Masefield, Blunden, Bridges etc without resorting to parody.
