Volumes II and III of Lady Diana Cooper's three volume autobiography.  Both are first editions, first printings published in 1959 and 1960 respectively.  264pp; 254pp, both with some black and white plate illustrations.  Cloth-covered boards with gilt motifs on front panels and gilt lettering on red relief on spines.  Decorated endpapers.  8vos.  Light of the Common Day has some wear and softening to covers, slightly rubbed at corners and spine ends.  Some mild spotting and toning on text block edges.  Internally some occasional, mild toning else neat, clean and tight.  Trumpets from the Steep is in a similar condition, without the softening to covers.  Both volumes complete with pictorial dust wrappers, rubbed at edges, shelf worn, rubbed at ends of slightly sunned spines, a few mild brush and scratch marks.

Diana Cooper (nee Manners), Viscountess Norwich, born 1892, was a successful silent film actress, socialite and aristocrat who, as a young women was part of the group of intellectuals, the Coterie, most of whom were killed during the first world war and who was widely celebrated as tge most beautiful woman in England.  After the war, she married Duff Cooper, one of the few survivors of the Coterie and later the British Ambassador to France.  Her autobiography reveals much of the world of silent films and early 20th centiry upper-class life.
