Eighth edition.  viii, 382, 2 [publisher's catalogue] pp, with occasional black and white illustrations in text.  Decorative pictorial boards, covered in purple cloth with gilt and coloured decorations and titles front and spine. Bevelled board edges.  All edges gilt. 12mo.  Cloth a little tired, a little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, faded and marked on verso.  Previous owner's name inked on slightly spotted endpapers else internally neat and clean.  Very slightly shaken.

A rather evocative vintage volumes covering British naval history from the time of the Romans to the late 19th century, with a special section on Lord Nelson.
