292pp plus four additional black and white plate illustrations amid 16pp of publishers' adverts at rear. Monochrome plate frontispiece & four further monochrome plate illustrations, all by Paul Hardy. Pictorial, illustrated cloth covers showing a young lady and older man in conversation on front panel and women with sleeping child in arms on spine. Gilt titles to front and spine. Coloured endpapers. All edges gilt. 12mo. Boards rubbed at edges, rounded on corners, spine sunned with cloth a little frayed at head and heel, some scuff marks, especially on rear board which also has ink(?) stain. Inscription on front free endpaper which also has three tiny holes near upper top corner. Binding a little fragile with gapping between signatures and two plates partially detached. Occasional spotting. Neat, square and cover still bright and attractive.
