First English edition (previously published in 1947 in French and Dutch). 160pp. Green cloth boards, a little rubbed and faded extremities. Ex library, markings on front endpaper only. Pages well thumbed. In an illustrated dust jacket, heavily rubbed and chipped at edges, small nicks at head and heel of spine. Scuffed. This is not fiction although as a thrilling and sustained narrative, it reads as such. Kirschen was one of Belgium's most distinguished Resistance men during the Second World War who, time and time again, took part in parachute landings into occupied territory. This is his story. Hard to find in English.
