1st UK edition (previously published in the USA). Monochrome plate frontispiece and seven further plate illustrations, all by William Rainey, plus three maps. Pictorial front board and spine with three colour printing and gilt titles, designed by Hassells (boards a little rubbed at edges, rounded at corners and spine tips, and mottled in places, small indentation along leading edge). All edges gilded. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Attractive volume.
