[1949] 1st ed, 1st imp. 152pp. Blue cloth covered boards (worn at edges, marked and soiled). Lending sheet on front endpaper, no other library markings. Well thumbed, one page has been taped in. In its original pictorial dust jacket, with art work by Micklewright (rubbed and a little chipped on edges, couple of closed tears from upper edge, creased and cracked on spine, small loss on verso, interior tape repair). This is a tatty book but it is a very hard to find title, especially a first in a dust jacket. Roland Daniel was a successful and prolific crime genre author, publishing from 1928 until his death in 1969. Unlike so many of the genre writers of the period, his stories still hold up. 0
