The special contents of this edition of the classic children's tale, The Swiss Family Robinson, are copyright 1949, edited by William H G Kingston. Beige and red cloth boards with illustration tipped in, decorated spine, upper text block edge inked red to match (boards a little marked, lightly worn around spine joints). In original good only slip case (slip case a little faded, rubbed, a few marks, fraying at corners). Internally neat and tight. Previous owner's stamp on half title page, tiny bookseller's stamp on rear endpaper (indicating the book was once in the stock of Kendrick Bellamy, the Bookstore of Denver). Beautiful edition, uncommon in original slipcase. Issued by Grosset and Dunlap in 1949 as part of its Illustrated Junior Library series.
