[1869]. 168pp [4]. Illustrated and decorated throughout. Strong buckram cloth boards with elaborate stamped, ruled and gilded decorations by John Leighton, bevelled edges, all edges gilt (boards a little rubbed at edges, fraying at spine edges, scuff on rear spine joint, patchily faded on rear board). Scattered spotting internally with first page partially detached. Superb Leighton Brothers highly gilded pre-title page. Previous owner's inscription on front endpaper date, neat and dated 1878. A very handsome volume, showing some wear and age. A collection of literary contributions, reflections on the orphanage and memories of visits, published to raise funds for the 'benefit of the babies there'. Square format 8vo.
