Rubbed at corners and along spine edges, where there is a little fraying. Internally pages a little aged with occasional spotting but sound and strong. Gutter crack between front endpapers. 1864 reprint following 1st edition of 1855 by the same publisher. A racily told tale by Francis Edward Smedley, a disabled novelist, cousin of the poet Manella Bute Smedley, who was his housekeeper.
