xcviii, 290pp plus 200 pages of plate illustrations, Red buckram binding (an alternative edition was produced in a grey cloth). Strong and sharp boards with extensive gilt lettering and decoration. The front free endpaper has a warped patch, consistent with the clumsy removal of a bookplate or label, else very good condition throughout. In its original, slightly edge worn, dust jacket. The final volume of the RCHM's comprehensive recording of York's monuments and older buildings in the Central Area of the City (excluding the Minister). Descriptions of more than 500 buildings erected prior to 1850. A large and very heavy volume which will require an additional charge for shipping.
