First edition, fourth state. 186pp, Beautifully illustrated throughout. Red cloth-covered boards with embossed gilt text and design on the spine and embossed design on the front (boards a little rubbed at points). Missing front free end paper, else internally neat and clean barring some minor corner creasing to occasional pages. Gutter strained. 8vo. This copy is the fourth state of the first edition, with 'A Love Story' appearing on a scroll, carried by a Cupid, on the title page, and no publisher's imprint. This is likely the most common state of the otherwise scarce first edition.
