486pp. Lightly illustrated with maps and battle plans, one of which folds out. In a later, plain case binding. Red cloth boards with paper labels on spine (the title label on spine indicates that this is volume 8 but it is in fact volume 7 of Campbell's Naval History). Marbled text block edges (faded). Internally a little edge wear to early pages, and some spotting. The frontispiece is foxed and the browned title page bears a small stamp of the Knaresborough Literary Institution. Campbell's Naval History was first issued in 1742. Subsequent editions, including this one, updated and enlarged by John Stockdale. This volume, volume VII, covers the period from the beginning of the first French Revolutionary War in 1793 to the death of Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. 8vo.
