Volume One of Sir Benjamin Stone MP's collection of photographs of national life and history in the UK, covering Festivals, Ceremonies and Customs (Volume Two covered parliamentary scenes). x, 96pp plus 96 photographic plate illustrations. Red cloth covered boards with gilt lettering (boards rubbed at edges, cloth frayed at spine ends, corners rounded). Title page printed in red and black. Portrait frontispiece with tissue guard. Deep blue endpapers show signs of a label having been removed. Occasional faint spotting throughout, not affecting plates. Slightly shaken. Stone was a passionate and talented photographer whose collection captured an image of the nation at the turn of the 20th century. A large and heavy volume which will likely incur an additional charge for overseas delivery.
