First edition. 44pp. Engraved frontispiece, showing a view of Knaresborough Castle, tipped in. In a later binding of orange cloth-covered boards with gilt titles and call number to spine. Internally pages are a little aged toned with faint, occasional spotting else neat and clean. Paper repair at gutter on title page. Reference library label on front paste down. Hargrove's history of Knaresborough was a best-seller in its time and running through to at least seven editions (7th edition 1832), each one containing additional information. This is the earliest version. Boyne, p.141.
