Not dated but inscription dated 1943 and the war-time promotion of London News on the rear inner flap of the dust jacket suggests war-time publication. 602pp. Green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to spine (boards a little rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends). Some mild spotting on text block edges. Internally neat, clean and tight barring a previous owner's inscription on the front free endpaper. In its original dust jacket (rubbed and chipped at edges, fraying at ends of slightly sunned spine). Nice, vintage volume in the Nelson's Classics series.
