Volume II (of II) only. First edition, first printing. 840pp. Illustrated. Widely considered a masterpiece of autobiography, Wells' Experiment in Autobiography was well-received by critics and acclaimed by many of those who feature in its pages (such as F D Roosevelt) but failed to gain the sales Wells had hoped for. In orange cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine (boards strong, square and bright, a little rounded at spine ends). Some minor spotting on text block edges. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring a manuscript note on the last page giving the date of Wells' death. In its original dust jacket (a couple of tiny chips on edges, sunned spine with reading crease). The dust jacket is now protected in an archival-quality mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. Herbert George (HG) Wells was an English writer, prolific in many genres. He wrote dozens of novels, short stories, and works of social commentary, history, satire, biography and autobiography. His work also included two books on recreational war games. Well-known and respected as a social commentator in his life time, Wells is perhaps best remembered for his pioneering science fiction and futurism works, including The Time Machine and the War of the Worlds. We have many more first and early editions of H G Wells' books in stock. Please inquire for a discount if considering ordering more than one volume.
