He wrote dozens of novels, short stories, and works of social commentary, history, satire, biography and autobiography. His work also included two books on recreational war games. Well-known and respected as a social commentator in his life time, Wells is perhaps best remembered for his pioneering science fiction and futurism works, including The Time Machine and the War of the Worlds.
