Prelims plus 224pp. Bound in orange cloth-covered boards with gilt block titles to spine (boards strong, clean, and square; just a little rounded at corners and spine tips). Text block edges toning, as is common with this edition. Internally neat, clean, and tight, with a hint of toning on extreme margins. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper. In its original, unclipped dust jacket, designed by Raymond Hawkey (lightly bumped on edges, a little rubbed on corners and spine ends and slightly soiled on verso). The dust jacket is now protected in an archival-quality mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. Leonard Cyril Deighton is a British author whose works include cookery books, history and military history, but he is best known for his spy novels, including the series featuring the unnamed Harry Palmer.
