352pp, numerous black and white plate illustrations and decorations in text. Delightfully illustrated end papers. In green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine (boards are strong and square, with sharp edges and corners, just a little rounded at spine ends). Some minor flecking on text block edges. Internally neat, clean and bright. Firmly bound. In its original dust jacket (a little bumped on upper edge, two tiny closed tears on front upper edges, chapped on rear upper edge, spine a little faded). An infectious, revealing, brilliant story of ballet, balancing freedom and tradition, full of personal experience and technique. This is 1954 reissue of the classic ballet work first published in 1934. Lovely volume, ideal gift for ballet and dance lovers.
