First edition, first printing. 308pp. In red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine (boards very gently rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, a few small scattered white marks, spine sunned with mild fold in cloth). Previous owner's name has been roughly crossed out on the front free endpaper, which has also had the corner clipped, else internally neat and clean, bright. Firmly bound. A regency novel. Georgette Heyer, an English novelist and short story writer, effectively established the historical romance genre, and its sub-genre of Regency Romances, and has remained popular among readers since the publication of her first novel, The Black Month, in 1921. Although perhaps best known (and collected) for her Regency Romances, which were written with great attention to historical detail, she also wrote thrillers and detective fiction.
