First, likely only, edition. x, 136pp plus 82pp of plate illustrations, a mix of colour and monochrome, at rearm mostly reproducing advertisements from various dates of companies involved in the hosiery trade in Hinckley. Title page printed in red and black. Quarter bound in cloth over illustrated paper-covered boards (boards just a little worn with some minor discolouration near top edge, spine tips at a little worn and rubbed). Some mild spotting on text block edges and first and last few pages, and a previous owner's on front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Tall 4to. An elegant volume produced and published to mark the tercentenary of the introduction of the stock frame by William Iliffe in 1640, and presents a 300 year history of the hosiery trade and industry that grew up in and around Hinckley capitalising on that machine.
