208pp. Black cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on spine. Signed and inscribed by author on front free endpaper 'To Jack and Meriel with love and best wishes Jackie & Frances 31.7.68' and includes a loosely laid-in letter from the author on his headed paper to one of the recipients of the George Cross (J C Easton Esq G.C.) whose story is recounted in the book.  8vo.  Bumped spine ends. Slightly cocked. Top text block edge sprayed red, remaining edges starting to fox. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Dust jacket has significant loss at spine head, fading on rear, two internally repaired closed tears, shelf wear, chipping to edges, mirrors book damage, not price clipped.

A history of the George Cross, the medal for gallantry and deeds of extreme valour not on the battlefield.
