Undated but likely circa 1930. 192pp, colour plate frontispiece and numerous line drawings in text (all by C T Nightingale). Quarter bound in brown leather over orange cloth-covered boards, with gilt titles and lettering on spine (covers gently rounded at corners and spine tips, cloth a little marked and soiled). An ex library copy with library markings on endpapers and discreetly on copyright page. Internally some very light foxing an occasional sign of fingering. A gentle retelling of the early development of the Christian church aimed at younger readers. A charming vintage volume. 4to.
