[6], plus 16 tissue-guarded prints. Bound in a metal case with gilded clasps, stamped and gilded decorations, four raised bands. 16mo. Catches on clasps missing, minor & faint spotting on title page, which has been gently bumped at base. One tissue-guard has been an outline of the following printed drawn on, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. An unusual and attractively pleasing volume. With a very brief history of the Oberammergau Passion Play in German, English and French, followed by 16 high quality prints by W Preiss, the majority depicting actors who took part in the play in 1950. Very hard to find, perhaps unique in this beautiful binding.
