xx, 747pp, with hundreds of illustrations in text and some full page, decorative initial caps (showing the flowers, fruits and grasses of the Holy Land. Quarter bound in blue leather over card boards with gilt rules and lettering on spine. Large 4to. Boards heavily worn, with some loss of leather, spine leather rubbed, cracked along joints, crumbling and flapping at spine ends, marks, rubbed through on corners. Turn ins and endpapers scuffed, marked and rubbed, rear free endpaper detached but present. Some faint and occasional spotting on first and last few pages, else internally neat, clean and bright. A glorious (although in need of some repair) and imposing volume detailing stories from the life of Christ written for the young reader and extensively illustrated in black and white. A very hard to find volume. WorldCat references 6 copies in libraries around the world.
