First, likely only, edition. x, 136pp plus 82pp of plate illustrations, a mix of colour and monochrome, at rear, mostly reproducing advertisements from various dates of companies involved in the hosiery trade in Hinckley. Title page printed in red and black. Quarter bound in cloth over illustrated paper-covered boards Tall 4to. Boards very gently rubbed on corners and spine joints, titles faded. An elegant volume produced and published to mark the tercentenary of the introduction of the stock frame by William Iliffe in 1640, and presents a 300 year history of the hosiery trade and industry that grew up in and around Hinckley capitalising on that machine.
