Undated but circa 1900. Volume IX of the 25 volume Large Type Border edition of Scott's Waverley Novels. lvi, 668pp, plus monochrome plate frontispiece and 11 further like illustrations. Quarter bound in black leather over blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Top edge gilt, other edges deckled. 8vo. Cloth rubbed and rounded at corners, a little worn at edges, heavy scuff on front panel. Endpapers lightly toned and stained, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Handsome volume. With introductory essay and notes by Andrew Lang.
